Ford Parts
|
My opinion is that Ford make a reasonable job of parts support.
I have always had helpful advice from my local dealers and availability seems fine.
Prices are around normal for the industry but seem expensive for what you get.
But there is a massive structure to feed and they are in business to make money.
I hope I can help you get the best from the system.

Sump Plug O Ring
|
What a rip off !!!
Ford expect us to buy a Sump Plug, complete for around £5 when only the O Ring needs replacing if damaged !!!
The solution is to get one from a local merchant. It needs to be 22mm outside diameter, 16mm internal diameter and 3mm profile. The bolt is 14mm
thread.
I can supply one to you for 30p each + 95p P+P and my time, that equals
£1.25 First Class post or £1.10 Second Class Post.
But please contact me to check I am around before relying on me.
You can send the money by PayPal to account derek@tourneo.com

Alternator Repairs
|
Yet another rip off !!!
The scenario is that the battery light starts to flicker, gradually it gets worse, then the battery is not getting charged. The alternator is not
working correctly.
Ford expect us to buy a replacement alternator when all that is needed is a brush kit.
But getting hold of one from Ford is difficult.
Solution. Find a local alternator reconditioning company. They should charge you around £60 to fit the kit or sell it to you for around £12.
I will try to find where to buy one from soon.

How to reset the Service Interval Indicator light |
Switch the ignition on to position II without starting the
engine. Fully depress the accelerator and brake pedals for at
least 15 seconds until the light flashes. Turn the ignition OFF. |

Replacing the Fuel Filter |
Reading the TIS. It says that after replacing the filter the
system has to be repressurised using a special tool. Well I
found that slowly filling the filter with fresh diesel, right to
the very brim, it can take around 5 minutes for all the air to
come out, slowly gently rocking it from side to side to release
trapped air bubbles. When you are sure it is full, then
fit it and starting should not be a problem. |
